How it works

The following poem expresses how Human Element enhances EQ through the building of self-awareness:

There’s a Hole in My Sidewalk
by Portia Nelson

“I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault. It takes forever to find a way out.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in again. I can't believe I am in the same place.
But it isn't my fault. It still takes me a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in. It's a habit.
My eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. I walk down another street.”

The price of doing the same old thing is far higher than the price of change

I use the Enneagram as a tool for change

The Enneagram is an intricate model of the human psyche that goes beyond our everyday cognitive processing. The model holds wisdom and knowledge that brings forth understanding, acceptance and self-awareness.

The structure of the Enneagram diagram is a map that provides knowledge for powerful shifts and transformation for individuals, couples and organisations.

It describes our thinking, feeling and action patterns and our repressed shadow sides. Therefore, it is a tool for conscious personal development that creates a shift through realisations and the acceptance of our blind spots.

Illustrated here are the unconscious elements that drive behaviour from a psychodynamic perspective.
